In a move that many military experts felt is long overdue, Israeli forces apparently intend to push Hezbollah north of the Litani River in the coming days. Such a move will put most of Israel out of range of the short range Katyusha rockets that have been pounding northern Israel for the past 3 weeks. It is interesting to note that the city of Haifa has not been hit in the past four days, indicating that Israeli air strikes are beginning to have the desired effect on Hezbollah capabilities.

Israel To Push North to the Litani River
Hezbollah's Human Shields
They hide behind the skirts of their women and the carriages of their babies. They refuse to allow their own civilians to clear the area, effectively holding them hostage. They fire rockets indiscriminately into civilian population centers and then rush into civilian shelters in the hope of shielding themselves from retaliation. These cowards, the lowest form of humanity, then parade the dead bodies of women and children in front of the TV cameras when civilians are inadvertently hit as a result of their own outragious actions, seeking the sympathy of those who are too naïve, ignorant or stupid to understand the context of the resulting difficult images.

More Proof: Hezbollah Cowards Hiding Behind Civilians
To those who still don’t get it, please notice this latest photo showing a Hezbollah anti-aircraft position right next to a civilian residential apartment complex. Also notice that some of those manning the position are dressed in civilian clothing. Should this position be hit, undoubtedly, civilians in the adjacent apartments will suffer the consequences. For those who are slow on the uptake, and still need proof that Hezbollah cowards are hiding behind, and using civilians as human shields.

Sudden Jihad Syndrome (SJS) In Seattle
Earlier this year, Dr. Daniel Pipes coined the term SUDDEN JIHAD SYNDROME (SJS), which was meant to describe the behavior of a seemingly average follower of Islam with no known connection to an organized radical movement, who suddenly and independently lashes out violently in the name of Islam. There have been many such incidents, including an attack on an EL AL ticket counter at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and the recent SUV attack on students at the University of North Carolina. This attack by Muslim Naveed Afzal Haq in Seattle is only the latest manifestation of this Syndrome, and it is not known how many such ticking time-bombs are walking around out there.

Hezbollah leader said to be hiding in Iranian Embassy
The Islmo-fascist coward, who hides behind the skirts of women and baby carriages, the snake-like coward who starts a war and then uses innocent children as his human shield, the monster who publicly prides himself that many more of his civilian hostages were killed than his armed men, seems now to be hiding out like a vermin in an embassy (probably the Iranian Embassy) according to the latest intelligence.

This is a UN observer position in South Lebanon. Please notice the UN and Hezbollah flag flying side by side. Far From implementing UN resolution 1559, which: 1) Calls for the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias; 2) Supports the extension of the control of the Government of Lebanon over all Lebanese territory; The UN was actually busy cohabitating and cooperating with a private terrorist militia, Hezbollah, in Lebanon.

Addressing the clerical staff of the Friday prayer sermons in Tehran, Ahmadinejad said Israel and its supporters "should know that they cannot end the business that they have begun."
"The occupying regime of Palestine has actually pushed the button of its own destruction by launching a new round of invasion and barbaric onslaught on Lebanon," the official Islamic Republic News Agency quoted the president as saying.
A top Iranian negotiator reportedly visited Damascus on Thursday for talks on the Lebanese crisis with the Syrian and Hezbollah leaders, starkly outlining the shape of the triparty alliance arrayed against Israel.
The reported meetings also supported the Israeli and U.S. insistence that Syria and Iran have a powerful influence with the Shiite Hezbollah organization and its guerrilla fighters.
In Washington White House spokesman Tony Snow said Syria and Iran "are playing leading roles" in the conflict in Lebanon "and need to step up" to the task of finding a solution.

Iwo Jima Style Fighting in South Lebanon
Now that the Israeli strategy is unfolding, so is Hezbollah’s. Clearly Hezbollah intend an Iwo Jima style defense of South Lebanon. As the Japanese did before them on various Pacific islands during WWII, Hezbollah have apparently over the past six years developed an intricate system of booby traps, tunnels and deep bunkers in which to entrench themselves against Israeli fire-power. After the IDF “captures” and “secures” a location, Hezbollah terrorists then pop out of their tunnels and bunkers to ambush Israeli forces who are then forced to “retake” real estate deemed already secure. As with US forces during WWII it will take time for the IDF to adapt.

Hezbollah: Strong Israeli response surprised us
Neocon Analysis:
The Israeli strategy is beginning to unfold and become more apparent to the casual observer. Clearly, Hezbollah (and many others) expected Israel, as in the past, to rush in large columns of armor and infantry 20 miles north to the Litani River, bypassing population centers to be dealt with later. Instead, unlike in the past, Israel has taken its time to warn all Lebanese civilians to evacuate, clearing the field to the extent possible. They then proceeded to cut off Southern Lebanon from the outside world, restricting movement, reinforcement into, or escape from the area, and commencing with a huge bombardment campaign from ground artillery, sea and air. In phase two which began 48 hours ago, the IDF began a patient, slow and deliberate movement into booby-trapped Southern Lebanon villages, directly confronting Hezbollah terror-fighters, and learning Hezbollah tactics before expanding the campaign on the ground.
Hezbollah are clearly surprised by the magnitude of the Israeli response, and were unprepared for the deliberate pace of IDF tactics. They expected IDF columns to move in quicker and for Hezbollah to commence with a pre-coordinated insurgency campaign against vulnerable IDF supply lines. Politically speaking, Hezbollah certainly anticipated greater pressure from the Israeli public on the Israeli government to cease the on-going rocket attacks, thus causing the Israeli government to make hasty and costly military decisions. They also expected wider Arab support (not the criticism that they got) and more pressure from the “International Community” to bring about a quick cease fire.
Israeli tactics have been effective and have up to this point kept Israeli casualties to a minimum. But the clock is ticking and the pace on the ground will certainly need to be quickened in the coming days. The patience of Israeli civilians living in bomb shelters is not unlimited, and the “International Community” is likely to up the pressure for a “cease fire” in the coming days.

UN: Hizbullah Must Stop This Cowardly Blending Among Women And Children
"Consistently, from the Hizbullah heartland, my message was that Hizbullah must stop this cowardly blending among women and children. I heard they were proud because they lost very few fighters and that it was the civilians bearing the brunt of this. I don't think anyone should be proud of having many more children and women dead than armed men."
Jan Egeland, UN Humanitarian Chief
These are unprecedented words from the UN; an organization usually dedicated to bashing the forces of sanity over the forces of hate and terror. Hezbollah are indeed cowards, hiding behind women and children. What kind of cowardly monsters use women and children as their shields... and boast about it?

The Kiss Seen Around the World
The Lebanese continue to hide behind their own “weakness,” desperately trying to enjoy the advantages of both worlds. On the one hand they claim to have nothing to do with Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel and to be too weak to confront the Islamic terror organization in their midst. On the other hand, they recognize Hezbollah as a legitimate Lebanese “resistance” group that holds official Government Ministries in addition to their own private and separate army. In short Lebanon claims to be a sovereign country with all of the advantages that come with sovereignty, but when convenient, avoids responsibility with claims of no sovereign control over its own territory. This is the Lebanon that secretary Rice is kissing today in Lebanon. Israel, on the otherhand will apperently not be drawn into a hasty but deadly strategy to suit outside political pressures.

Thousands of Israeli Reservists Volunteering for Military Service Despite Not Being Called Up
Motivation seems to be at all time highs in Israel as support for actions against Hezbollah are now in the 90% range according to most polls. In an extraordinary development, thousands of Israeli reserve troops whose units have not been called up have volunteered for service.
The Protocols of Pat Buchanan
When Jews are in the news there is always one person who can be counted on to lose control of himself, begin to salivate, and rush to the TV cameras spewing age-old conspiracy theories and stereotypes: Pat Buchanan. Like his father before him who supported the Nazis, opposed the US war against the Nazi death machine, and blamed the Jews for getting the US involved in WWII, Pat Buchanan is an indirect supporter of today’s Islamo-fascist war on America; repeatedly expressing “understanding” for their hatred of America, and of course, blaming it all on the Jew. This article in todays FrontPage Magazine artfully and acuratly captures the Buchanan Syndrome, an age-old sickness that rears it’s ugly head from time to time.

Status quo must go in Lebanon
"One of the many failings of our educational system is that it sends out into the world people who cannot tell rhetoric from reality. They have learned no systematic way to analyze ideas, derive their implications and test those implications against hard facts.
"Peace" movements are among those who take advantage of this widespread inability to see beyond rhetoric to realities. Few people even seem interested in the actual track record of so-called "peace" movements -- that is, whether such movements actually produce peace or war.
Take the Middle East. People are calling for a cease-fire in the interests of peace. But there have been more cease-fires in the Middle East than anywhere else. If cease-fires actually promoted peace, the Middle East would be the most peaceful region on the face of the earth instead of the most violent."

Lebanese PM Saniora: Disarm Hizbullah
The impotent Lebanese Prime Minister has been decrying Israel’s actions of defending itself against the terrorist organization embedded in his country. But now, Prime Minister Seniora firmly admits that Hezbollah needs to be disarmed. This is good news. In essence, while striping away all the empty talk about Israel’s “disproportionate response,” and continuing to hide behind his weakness, The Lebanese Prime Minister has no choice but to admit the correctness of Israel’s bottom-line position in this situation, namely, that Hezbollah needs to be disarmed. Let's Hope They Got The Bastard
Israeli warplanes dropped bombs late Wednesday on a bunker in south Beirut where senior Hizbullah leaders were thought to be, the military said. IDF officials told Ynet that dozens of Air Force fighter jets participated in the massive air strike on a south Beirut target, acting on IDF intelligence. According to the officials, the building itself was completely destroyed and the IDF was checking the results of the strike –whether the senior Hizbullah officials Israel was targeting were actually at the scene. Additionally, a senior IDF officer said that Israeli intelligence had significantly infiltrated Hizbullah.
Army officials also said top Hizbullah figures were thought to be there, possibly including Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The officials said the bunker was in the Bourj al-Barajneh section of southern Beirut.
Hizbullah has a headquarters compound in Bourj al-Barajneh that is off limits to the Lebanese police and army, so security officials could not confirm the strike. Hizbullah media made no immediate mention of any attack. Israel has said that one of the objects of its offensive in Lebanon is to eliminate Hizbullah leaders. The military said the attack occurred about 11 p.m., but reporters in Beirut said the last loud explosion heard there was two and-a-half hours earlier.

The Neocon Express will continue to update ongoing events in the Middle East as they develop with links to hard news and opinion articles from various publications around the world. Of course, at this site we do not pretend to be unbiased – we are biased in favor of freedom and Western values of tolerance, pluralism, enlightenment and modernity – We understand that this is only part of a worldwide battle against the forces of primitive backwardness of radical Islam, totalitarian subjugation and extreme intolerance to those who are different. Indeed, this is a battle between those who were horrified by 9/11, and those who celebrated it.

CNN Drifting Towards Old Fashion Anti-Israel Coverage
The Neocon observes that Fox News is literally kicking CNN’s #*^@!%#+! in Middle East Coverage. I just finished watching CNN’s Nic Robertson prance through destroyed buildings in South Beirut, the home of Hezbollah Headquarters with a Hezbollah “spokesman” who was given an uninterrupted worldwide platform to loudly spew unending propaganda about the evil Jews, unprovoked, purposefully attacking innocent civilians for no reason, etc…. This is typical bad-old-days-type Middle East coverage that one would expect from CNN. Fortunately, CNN no longer represents the leading platform for news that it once did, and Fox News is presenting a far superior product with a much larger audience.

Congress to Vote Wednesday on Resolution Strongly Backing Israel's Right to Self-Defense
The House of Representatives is now expected to vote Wednesday on a bipartisan leadership resolution reaffirming Congress' unwavering support for Israel. This resolution strongly backs Israel's right to defend itself and take steps beyond its borders to deter further aggression by terrorist groups and their state sponsors, Iran and Syria. The resolution also demands complete implementation of U.N. Security Council 1559, which requires the disarming of Hizballah and the departure of all foreign militias – including the remaining Syrian personnel and Iranian Revolutionary Guards – from Lebanon. The resolution also calls for the full weight of American financial, diplomatic, and economic sanctions to be imposed on Syria and Iran. Sponsored by the leadership of both parties in the House, the resolution calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the Israeli soldiers being held by Hamas and Hizballah and holds the governments of Syria, and Iran responsible for these acts of aggression against Israel.

Mideast Conflict Hard to Solve, Easy to Explain
"The Middle East conflict is difficult to solve, but it is among the simplest conflicts in history to understand. The Arab and other Muslim enemies of Israel (for the easily confused, this does not mean every Arab or every Muslim) want Israel destroyed. That is why there is a Middle East conflict. Everything else is commentary. Those who deny this and ascribe the conflict to other reasons, such as "Israeli occupation," "Jewish settlements," a "cycle of violence," "the Zionist lobby" and the like, do so despite the fact that Israel's enemies regularly announce the reason for the conflict."

Nazareth and Afula Bombed, Southern-most Target to Date
Iranian/Syrian supplied rockets land in the Jezreel Valley, fired by Hezbollah or Iranian Revolutionary Guards. This marks the southern-most reach of rockets fired into Israel as Hezbollah’s strategy seems to be to gradually bomb further south, deeper into Israeli population centers as the situation unfolds. If, as is obvious and clear, Syria and Iran have supplied these weapons to this terrorist organization, it would not be a great leap to contemplate that they have also supplied them with chemical or biological capabilities as Hezbollah Chief Nesrallah seems to be alluding to by constantly referring to; “They have no idea of our capabilities or the kinds of weapons we have”. The current nightmare scenario involves Syrian/Iranian supplied missiles, tipped with WMD capability, landing in Israeli population centers.

G-8 Produces Confused Statement on Middle East Crisis
It is truly difficult to take seriously the confused statement emanating from the G-8 Summit in Russia. On the one hand, the statement briefly (and correctly) blames the Terrorist organizations for instigating the crisis; but then they proceed to dwell at length on calls for the exercise of “restraint” on the part of the victim of this aggression. No word on calls for restraining or defeating the terrorists and their state sponsors. No word on a call to disarm Hezbollah and the implementation of UN resolutions calling for Lebanon to exercise sovereignty on its own border. Basically, the statement says: ‘the terrorists are bad, but Israel should restrain itself. Wow!
Mark Steyn hits the diplomatic nail on the head in his latest piece 'Great Men' have grating effect on Mideast" in today's Chicago Sun Times. An absolute must read, a small tast below:
"I was on the road the other night and so found myself watching CNN's coverage of Israel, Lebanon, Gaza, etc. It was "Larry King Live," and it was one of those shows where Larry interviews great men about what needs to be done and the great men all agree that what needs to be done is that the president needs to get other great men involved to "broker" a "deal." Sen. Chuck Hagel proposed that Bush appoint Colin Powell or Jim Baker as his Special Envoy; Sen. Barbara Boxer proposed that Bush appoint Madeleine Albright as his Even More Special Envoy. Sen. George Mitchell, who himself served as Extra-Special Super-Duper Envoy a few years back, proposed that Bush involve the European Union. And someone else proposed the G-8. And Larry suggested Putin. Oh, and some smooth-talking apologist in Savile Row pinstripes proposed Chirac, because he and Bush had agreed a U.N. resolution on something or other a year or two back. Aside from Larry's closing tribute to Red Buttons, I've never heard more rubbish in a single hour since . . . well, come to think of it, since the last time I saw "Larry King Live."
It's easy to fly in a guy in a suit to hold a meeting. Half the fellows inside the Beltway have Middle East "peace plans" named after them. Bush flew in himself a year or two back to announce his "road map." Before that it was Cheney, who flew in with the Cheney plan, which was a plan to open up a road map back to the last plan, which would get us back to "Tenet," which would get us back to "Mitchell," which would get us back to "Wye River," which would get us back to "Oslo," which would get us back to Kansas."

Haifa Bombed!
In an unprecedented development with far reaching consequences, the Israeli city of Haifa was bombed indiscriminately, killing at least 9 civilians and injuring scores. This attack will undoubtedly lead to a widespread Israeli bombing campaign which will be less likely to concern itself with Lebanese civilian casualties. Shiite towns and villages and the Shiite neighborhoods of South Beirut will likely face massive retaliation.

Lebanon Hints at Anti-Hezbollah Move as Arab Media Report that Hezbollah Cheif is Wounded In Israeli Attack
Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora hinted that Lebanon could send its army to the South of the country to seize control from Hezbollah terrorists who now control Southern Lebanon all the way to the border fence with Israel. If in fact, the Lebanese government can now muster the courage to face down, confront and disarm Hezbollah; it could be a key to defusing the crisis. However, there is simply no chance that Saniora will agree to take such a dramatic action unless he is absolutely convinced that Israel and the West will back him fully in such an action, both politically and militarily. That is certainly a formula being discussed behind the scenes.

Hezbollah – An Extension of The Iranian Revolutionary Guard
Hezbollah has obtained a number of weapons systems from Iran that Israel was apparently unaware of and was unprepared for. The most obvious and troubling development was the use of silkworm anti-ship missiles. This development is also a wake-up call for the US Navy operating in the Persian Gulf in front of the same type of missiles. It is highly likely that Iranian Revolutionary Guards are operating in Lebanon alongside Hezbollah. It will not be particularly surprising if Hezbollah fire long range Iranian-supplied rockets that land in Tel Aviv.

A Real Middle East Axis of Evil
Hezbollah's Nasrallah - Iran's Ahmadinejad - Hamas' Mashal - Syria's Assad. These are the bad-guy players: A mixture of Islamo-facists/nationalists. A real Middle East Axis of Evil.
* An unconfirmed press report indicates that Israel has issued an ultimatum to Syria to force Hezbollah return the kidnapped Israeli soldiers in the next 72 hours or face Israeli attacks.
* The city of Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee was struck multiple times by rockets. This did not happen even during the worst days of the Yom Kippur war in 1973. * Patriot missiles are positioned off of Haifa for the first time since the Gulf War in 1991.
* 12 Egyptian sailors killed when their ship was accidentally sunk by Hezbollah while attempting to attack an IDF missile cruiser.
* Downtown Beirut struck for the first time.
