For Some US State Department Employees, It's land of the Whiner and Home of the Coward

Several hundred US "diplomats" expressed their resentment Wednesday over a State Department policy that could assign them to serve in Iraq. To these folks public service means cushy assignments, glamorous travel at public expense, fat paychecks and lots of cocktail parties.

"It is one thing if someone believes in what is going on over there and volunteers, but it is another thing to send someone over there on a forced assignment. And I'm sorry, but basically that is a potential death sentence and you know it. Who will raise our children if we are dead or wounded?"
Yuck! Isn't somebody in the State Department by definition "volunteering" by joining the foreign service and accepting a paycheck from the taxpayer that far exceeds anything our troops are getting?

Laura Bush Defends Symbol of Gender Oppression

Apparently, our First Lady, while she seems like a very nice person is clearly not the sharpest knife in the cutlery set. She described the forced covering of women in the Arab word as "voluntary". Perhaps, someone should explain to her that in places like Saudi Arabia, a woman can be severely beaten or stoned to death for "immodest dress," and that full covering is required BY LAW. The ignorance is appalling and the knee-jerk Western political correctness is what is killing women in the Arab world, and will kill us eventually as well if we don't confront this type of oppression that Laura Bush so ignorantly embraces.

Laura Bush's embrace of tyranny

Mohamed ElBaradei: With Regard to Nukes, I Am the Law

There is no other way to put it; Mohamed ElBaradei (the nuke-seeking dictators best friend) is an international Joke to serious people, and a God to the hopelessly naive. His latest quote takes the cake: "I would hope if anybody has information, before they take the law into their own hands, to come and pass the information on [to me]." This quote was made with respect to Israel's action to eliminated a suspected Syrian nuclear facility on September 6th. With respect to Iran, ElBaradei stated that "there is no evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons." This is the man that we are supposed to depend on to keep nukes out of the hands of madmen? My nine-year-old can do better.

Times Bombshell: 60 Iranians study nuclear physics in Britain

Are folks in the UK out of their minds? I don't even know where to begin with this one.

THE Foreign Office has cleared dozens of Iranians to enter British universities to study advanced nuclear physics and other subjects with the potential to be applied to weapons of mass destruction. In the past nine months about 60 Iranians have been admitted to study postgraduate courses deemed “proliferation-sensitive” by the security services. The disciplines range from nuclear physics to some areas of electrical and chemical engineering and microbiology....Britain has previously been a destination of choice for scientists working for hostile governments.

A First: Eli Marom, Chinese-Israeli Takes Command of Israeli Navy

I met Eli Marom a few years ago and was very impressed; highly articulate and intelligent. His story is a very interesting one, and he's the first Chinese-Israeli to reach Israel's high-command. He personally commanded a daring raid a few years ago when the Israeli Navy intercepted a ship, the "Karine A" in the Red Sea, packed with weapons headed to the Gaza Strip and I had the opportunity to hear details of that raid from him. We wish him success.

Suspected Top-Secret Syrian Nuke Facility Easily Spotted on Google Earth...for all to see

I did a quick search on Google Earth, and easily found the suspected facility that was bombed (although I wasn't sure that that was the exact facility until viewing the published images). Here's how to find it on Google Earth: Simply go along the Euphrates River following it northeast starting from the Iraqi-Syrian border in a straight line for a little over 109 miles. You will immediately notice that both sides of the Euphrates River are covered with cultivated fields. Suddenly, after about 107 aerial miles from the Iraqi-Syrian border you will notice that there is a gap in heavy agricultural activity for a distance of about 4 miles as the river cuts through a more mountainous terrain. In this area there are about eight small wadi's (canyons, or washes) that run into the Euphrates from both east and west. The facility in question is located smack-dead, deep in the middle of the second canyon (on the eastern, or right side of the Euphrates) when one is looking from south to north.

The large square structure in the center is the suspected North Korean designed reactor, and there are also a number of other structures, and what appears to be a pumping station. The suspected reactor is about 50 yards or a half a football field in each direction, and seems to be a tall structure given the shadow that it produces compared to other structures in the area. The entire facility is tucked away in the center of this canyon about 800 yards from the east bank of the Euphrates in a very remote location, and would not be visible at ground level from any direction unless you're in the canyon itself; there clearly appears to be some kind of security perimeter around the entire canyon. The location next to the Euphrates River would make sense because of the need for large amounts of water for cooling the reactors core. Any person in the world with a computer could have pulled up this suspicious facility on Google Earth prior to the September 6th raid, unfortunately, unlike myself, only a trained eye would truly grasp what they were looking at, and undoubtedly, additional corroborative evidence was obtained prior to initiating a risky raid.

UPDATE: Having gone over old satellite images, experts now believe that this suspected secret Syrian nuclear facility has been under development since 2001, almost seven years now! If true, Syria has been in serious violation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), of which it is a signatory.

Of course, had the IAEA known about this facility, an endless game of political cat and mouse would have ensued, and nothing would have been done about it, just as nothing is being done about Iran's nuclear program. The Israelis were absolutely correct in avoiding making this public, or going to the UN. Had they done that, Syria would have been alerted, taken counter measures and would be well on their way to producing nuclear weapons. The correct course of action was to eliminate the threat with extreme prejudice in one decisive act, and that is exactly what they did. The UN and IAEA can whine as much as they want. One might ask what the IAEA is going to with regard to Syria now that they know what has transpired. My guess is the usual...nothing.

Below is an aerial photo of a North Korean Nuclear facility. Note the signature square containment structure:

Update on Syrian Air Strike:

For the first time, before and after satellite photo's are available of the target hit by Israeli aircraft in Syria on September 6th. The structure on the left is a suspected North Korean designed nuclear reactor. the photo on the right, taken recently, indicates that Syria has expeditiously (and suspiciously) cleared the site, as if they were in a big hurry to hide something. Notice how the entire area around the facility has been charred as a result of the air strike (or is that just a difference in the film?), and the area where the building stood has been cleared and graded. Also remember that the Syrians originally claimed that the Israelis dropped bombs in the empty desert after being "chased off" by Syrian anti-aircraft defenses and that nothing was hit. They later revised that statement to: "the Israelis bombed a civilian desert research facility." That has now been revised again to; "the Israelis bombed an empty military building." The fact that the Syrian story keeps changing raises even greater suspicions.

Nightmere: Israeli Designed J-10 Jet Delivered to Iran Via China

This is simply a failure of imagination on the Israelis part. They sold China military technology that they couldn't imagine would one day end up in the hands of a third country [Iran] dedicated to wiping Israel off the map. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned in all of this?

US to speed up stealth fighter delivery to Israel

US defense officials agreed to allow Israel to begin receiving the aircraft as early as 2012, when delivery to the United States Air Force is set to begin. "We asked that for every two jets manufactured for the US, one be manufactured for Israel," a senior Israeli defense official said, adding that acquisition of the aircraft would greatly increase Israel's deterrence as Iran races toward nuclear power. This plane can fly into downtown Tehran without anyone even knowing about it since it can't be detected on radar."

Terrorists Use Google Earth to Target Israel

Israel okays plan to reduce power supply to Gaza and the entire Arab world are now complaining that that amounts to a "war crime." really? and firing missiles into Israeli cities is what? It's kind of like taking a crap on your neighbors door and then knocking on that door to complain about their failure to provide toilet paper.

For leftists, it’s Islamo-fascism Appreciation Week

Liberals believe in burning the American flag, urinating on crucifixes and passing out birth control pills to 11-year-olds without telling their parents – but God forbid an infidel touch a Quran at Guantanamo. College liberals are in a fit of pique because various speakers are coming to their campuses this week as part of David Horowitz's Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. Apparently, liberals support Islamo-fascism.

First look at Syrian Nuke Facility Before Being Hit By Israel

The next set of images to be revealed in the coming days should show the same structures after the air raid. That will be the first independent confirmation of the events in question, and how successful the raid was, if at all.

Criminal Naiveté: First Lady Laura Bush Validates the Oppression of Women in the Muslim World

While in the Middle East to promote the good cause of breast cancer awareness, First Lady Laura Bush inadvertently caused far more damage than good. The above images only serve to validate the oppression of Women in the Muslim World. In her Naivete, the First Lady has set back the cause of gender equality in the Muslim world by allowing herself to be seen accepting the very symbols of intolerance and oppression, with a big smile on her face. I am usually a fan, but this is the act of a naive Texas country-bumpkin.

The Faces of real Courage

During Islamo-fascism Awareness Week, I will be putting plenty of emphasis on the treatment of women in the Muslim world. But it should be noted that there are courageous, unvailed Arab women who are outspoken on the issue. For security reasons, they are forced to live in the West because unfortunately, in their own countries they would likely be stoned to death. In the photo's are; Nonie Darwish, Nazanin-Afshin-Jam, Dr. Wafa Sultan and Brigitte Gabriel (on the right); four wonderful, attractive, educated and highly articulate Arab women who carry the cause of women's rights in the Muslim world on their shoulders. Now, If only they could get our "Women's Studies" departments at our universities to recognize their struggle. That is what Islamo-Fascism Awareness week is all about.

Support Islamo Fascisim Awareness Week: October 22-26, 2007

"Why would the left – which claims to be anti-fascist, anti-sexist and progressive -- oppose Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week rather than support it? Why isn’t the left outraged by the genital mutilation of women in countries such as Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen, or the sanctioning of wife-beating under Islamic law in Pakistan and other Islamic states? Across America, Women’s Studies programs will teach students about the oppression of women in Peoria and Ann Arbor but not in Teheran or Riyadh. Why not?"
David Horowitz
David Horowitz asks these questions, but he already knows the answer: it is because the left hates America and will make common cause with every hate-mongering, oppressive, thuggish ideology, so long as it too hates America as much as they do: Another lefty "expressing himself."

Neocon Express Endorses Rudy Giuliani for President

I have anguished long and hard over this matter. In 2000, I supported John McCain over George Bush, and have supported Bush through the ups and downs ever since, even when he veered off course on important issues like immigration, tax reform and spending. I have never expected any leader to be perfectly in sync with all of my views.

Why Giuliani? I certainly have my differences with him; I tend to be more socially conservative, certainly on the issue of abortion (I’m generally pro-Life), I oppose gun control and the gay marriage thing is about #372 on my scale of important issues.

The matter that currently sits as number one on my radar screen is the global threat of Islamo-fascism, and there is one candidate that gets that issue more than any other, and that is Rudy Giuliani. I am looking for a real leader; the kind of leader who would throw Yasser Arafat out of the Lincoln Center; the kind of leader who would order the towing of UN vehicles with “diplomatic immunity” for violating NY parking laws; the kind of leader who would return a multi-million dollar check from a smug Saudi Prince who insults America; The kind of leader who could take the most violent, depressed, dilapidated largest city in America and turn into a safe, clean, economic miracle by lowering taxes, eliminating welfare as we know it, and cracking down hard on criminals; the kind of leader who has demonstrated a coolness under fire in a real-life emergency of the worst kind. It seems to me that most of the other candidates are more talkers than doers, whereas Rudy is a real doer with a real track record.

It seems to me that he’s compassionate and caring, but can be tough and even ruthless when necessary in defense of the public good. He criticizes himself (“Bernie was a mistake”) and laughs at himself occasionally as well. He is imperfect, is aware of his imperfections and occasionally admits them; a rarity for any politician.

After the war against Islamo-fascism, my second biggest issue is the matter of Supreme Court appointments. Can we trust Rudy to make the right kind of appointments? He has publicly pledged to appoint judges in the image of John Roberts, Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito. He has looked us in the eye and made that pledge and we know what that means. The conservative Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, said that he met privately with Giuliani who looked him in the eye and made that pledge one on one as well. Perry has now endorsed Giuliani.

Another crucial issue is the question of electablity. I believe that Rudy is the most electable Republican candidate. A Northeasterner with a proven track-record of attracting crossover Democrats. Rudy can win, but his choice for VP will be important: My ideal Republican ticket for now is a Giuliani-McCain ticket. In any event, now is as good a time as any to make my choice, and I choose Giuliani. Let’s see how it plays out.

Bush: It's World War III if Iran goes nuclear

"We've got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel," Bush said at a White House press conference after Russia cautioned against military action against Tehran's suspect atomic program. "So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."
Now that is some serious rhetoric. The only question is, will the Bush administration take the action necessary to halt the Iranian bomb. At the end of the day, that will be the biggest issue that will impact his legacy. Not Iraq, not Afghanistan and not the economy. Years from now, historians will undoubtedly judge this moment of truth: Did the President of the United States act to eliminate this threat to global stability, or did he shrink in the face of this difficult challenge that accumulated during his Presidency and pass the larger problem on to his successor? Will he listen to Moveon.Org and Code Pink, or will he listen to his own words?

Gore Joins Arafat as Noble "Peace" Laureate

So far this year, Al Gore has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and now the Noble Peace Prize; no joke! At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if he also wins the Heisman trophy, the World Series, an Olympic gold medal for wind surfing and the Conney Island hotdog eating championship. One really has to do some serious intellectual gymnastics to find a way to tie "global warming" in with "peace," but hey, who am I to spoil the party with non-conformist reasoning? So now Gore joins Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter and Mohamed El Baradei as Noble "peace" winners. You couldn't make this stuff up. The Noble "Peace" prize can no longer be taken seriously by serious people.

ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the product of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works".

Really, what else is left to say? We are dealing here with an extraordinary evil, unknown to the world since the 1940's. And to think that there are those on the left in the West who ally themselves with this kind of thinking. Of course, there are whack-jobs on the far right who also espouse this kind of thing, but they are hiding up in a few cabins in Idaho. You can find lefty sympathizers of this mentality as tenured staff at virtually every American University campus.

Quote of the Day: Judea Pearl

"There was a time when drawing moral symmetries between two sides of every conflict was a mark of original thinking. Today, with western intellectuals overextending two-sidedness to reckless absurdities, it reflects nothing but lazy conformity. What is needed now is for intellectuals, filmmakers, and the rest of us to resist this dangerous trend and draw legitimate distinctions where such distinctions are warranted."

"Look. I had for five months people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco, angering neighbors, hanging their clothes from trees, building all kinds of things -- Buddhas? I don't know what they were -- couches, sofas, chairs, permanent living facilities on my front sidewalk. If they were poor and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they would be arrested for loitering, but because they have 'Impeach Bush' across their chest, it's the First Amendment."

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week: Another Home Run for the David Horowitz Freedom Center

The David Horowitz Freedom Center is sponsoring Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week on university campuses across the country, and this years focus is on "the brutal oppression of women by Islamic radicals and by the regimes they control such as Saudi Arabia and Iran."

"Despite their vigilance in behalf of women’s rights in America and other Western nations, Women’s Studies Departments across the nation have been strangely passive in the face of the barbaric treatment of women in Islamic regimes. Numerous hours are spent in the classroom, dissecting the reasons for the ‘wage gap’ in America, violence against women and the ‘privileges’ accorded Caucasian males. But courses on the plight of women in Islamic regimes are strangely absent. Where there are a few courses that touch on Islamic women in Women’s Studies programs, the focus is often cultural and literary, while the abuses go unmentioned. This failure to confront the abuse of women who live in Islamic countries stands in stark contrast to the mission statements of many Women’s Studies departments."
I'm sure what she's really worried about is the "glass ceiling". All that business about burying women alive or stoning them to death for "immodest behavior"...well that's just a minor cultural difference...now how about that "wage gap" and those evil white males?

Nasrallah: "Invade Palestine." Ahmadinejad: "Move the Jews to Europe or Alaska."

It was 'kick the Jew day' today in the radical Muslim world and their leaders did not disappoint the hoards. Millions of Iranians took to the streets demanding "Death to Israel" and "Death to America," and many US, British and Israeli flags were burned. In Lebanon, the Hezbollah leader openly prayed for Israel "to be invaded." In Iran, President Ahmadinejad called for the Jews to be transferred to Alaska or Europe, and Ayatollah Mahould Hashemi Shahroudi, Iran's judiciary chief described the rallies as "a good start for the destruction of the Zionist regime." Love is in the air with these folks. Of course, their Western useful idiots on the left are more concerned about Bush and Guantanamo.

Mystery: How Did Israeli Jets Evade Syrian Radar?

Iranian, Syrian and Russian technical experts are scrambling to understand how non-stealth Israeli jets managed to evade Syria's air defense system and destroy a target deep inside Syria that itself is shrouded in mystery. That is the biggest question to emerge from the Israeli raid and The implications are stunning: This possibly means that Iranian nuclear facilities defended by the same system are vulnerable. It means that Syria and Iran have purchased an expensive anti-aircraft system from Russia that is ineffective. But most importantly, it means that the West has found an alternative way to neutralize sophisticated radar air defense systems without the use of expensive stealth technology.

Update: World Tribune reports that during the Israeli raid, Syria and Lebanon experienced wide electronic disruptions throughout those two countries. Journalist Jack Wheeler reports that “The primary point of the attack was not to destroy that target,” Wheeler said. “It was to shut down Syria's Russian air defense system during the attack. Doing so made the attack an incredible success. Syria is shamed and silent. Iran is freaking out in panic."

Ken Burns' 'The war' is a Masterpiece

Having watched the entire series, the Neocon congratulates Ken Burns on his new masterpiece "The War", an epic series on World War II. I was moved to tears on a number of occasions. It had to be very difficult to capture the essence of such a large subject matter. Somehow, Burns manages to pull it off. Congratulations to him!
