"We've got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel," Bush said at a White House press conference after Russia cautioned against military action against Tehran's suspect atomic program. "So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."Now that is some serious rhetoric. The only question is, will the Bush administration take the action necessary to halt the Iranian bomb. At the end of the day, that will be the biggest issue that will impact his legacy. Not Iraq, not Afghanistan and not the economy. Years from now, historians will undoubtedly judge this moment of truth: Did the President of the United States act to eliminate this threat to global stability, or did he shrink in the face of this difficult challenge that accumulated during his Presidency and pass the larger problem on to his successor? Will he listen to Moveon.Org and Code Pink, or will he listen to his own words?
