Hi, I'm Barack Obama and I just dropped by to cure your cancer before heading over to end all poverty, stop all wars and part the seas:
Iran: "If suspension is included in the package, it won't be considered at all. The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is clear. Preconditions can't be raised for any halt or suspension [of uranium enrichment]."
Bush and Sarkozy were informed of Iran's rejection as they went into a morning meeting and reacted:
Sarkozy: "If Iran gets a nuclear bomb, that is totally unacceptable. Our position will not change....As far as military nuclear access is concerned, this is 'no' on the part of the international community."
Bush: "I'm disappointed that the leaders rejected this generous offer out of hand... Our allies understand that a nuclear-armed Iran is incredibly destabilizing, and they understand that it would be a major blow to world peace."
The Neocon: Bush's legacy depends almost entirely on whether Iran is on the path to nuclear weapons when he leaves office, or on whether he took action to halt Iran's march to a nuclear bomb. From the prospective of history, that issue will far outweigh both Iraq and Afghanistan. If Bush leaves office having neutralized the Iranian bomb, history will judge him well. Should Bush leave office with Iran on the brink of nuclear weapons, his legacy will be judged harshly indeed.
All the short-term whining about Iraq... etc... are not matters of lasting historic significance in comparison to the prospect of a nuclear armed radical Islamic terrorist state.
Matthews: Russert was was too "typical American," not very sophisticated like me. Was unable to see through phony administration argument for Iraq war:

Russert towered above these two clowns and they know it (especially KO). They also know that neither of them could ever expect to receive anything like the avalanche of accolades now deservedly showered on Russert; moral and intellectual midgets not qualified to clip Russert's toe nails.
So let me get this straight...our Democrat friends believe that foreign terrorists captured on the battle field and held outside the United States deserve the same constitutional rights as any US citizen residing in the United States. Meaning access to a Johnny Cochran-like shyster-lawyer and wacko judges like those sitting on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Our Democrat friends are also "concerned" about the rising price of gas but oppose any drilling for new oil in the United States on the grounds that it will only contribute to some delusional thing called "global warming." I am truly amazed that there is even a contest in this election, but clearly I am "out of touch."
Good lord I hope this report is wrong. I admire Tim Russert. A fair-minded and tough reporter.
UPDATE: Report now confirmed by multiple media sources including NBC, Russerts own network. That's just depressing.
USA Today ran a story recently titled "Ohio judge: State must change lethal injection law". But USA Today seemed to have completely missed the larger story appearing right behind the judge during his interview:
OK, first we have the delicate little matter of a judge who is supposed to be non-partial and above politics hanging highly political posters in his tax-payer funded office. Then there is the tiny matter of the kind of politics the judge seems to admire. A genocidal, communist terrorist revolutionary right next to...you guessed it...the Messiah himself.
USA Today apparently found this display by a judge completely natural, not even slightly noteworthy, and didn't mention it in the article.
Barack Obama has a new web site dedicated to fighting "right-wing smears" on the internet. I think this is good news. Every time I come across a rumor, I can simply e-mail the Obama campaign at: watchdog@barackobama.com, and theoretically, they will answer the rumor. I have decided to test the system, I e-mailed them the following:
Dear 'Fight the Smears,'I hereby promise to post whatever response I get.
Over at The Obama File web site they are claiming that Barack Obama Sr. bought his first of three wives for 14 cows. Is this rumor accurate or is this a right-wing smear? Many thanks for your assistance on this matter and I look forward to squashing this rumor as soon as possible.

I am absolutely amazed that somebody thought this was an ad that might attract young voters to the Democratic party. Here's the premise:
A skanky slut goes to a bar to get drunk and pick up a man for a one night stand. They go back to the mans apartment and begin to engage in cheep sex. Suddenly she sees the man has a signed photograph of John McCain on his dresser. She jumps out of bed and bursts out the door... because she only sleeps with Democrats. She runs down to the street half dressed and bumps into a man wearing a donkey pin. The two smile and walk off together Wow! I mean WOW!!!
Where to begin? The makers of this ad are so lacking in basic values that it didn't even occur to them that it might not be a good idea to portray women in general, and Democrat women in particular as skanks and sluts in the pursuit of making a very weak political point using very weak humor. GOOD LORD! How stupid can you get?
Here's how the organization that made this ad describe themselves:TruthThroughAction.org brings independent filmmakers together to create "edgy" online film and video content to support the Democratic Party, its issues and candidates.
Oh yeah!!! they're real "EDGY". LOL!
Now that Obama has put this out on his own campaign web site, as opposed to the Daily Kos, I think this pretty much puts this little issue to bed. There is plenty of proven troubling material out there without having to dwell excessively on the unproven. One wonders why Obama was reluctant to release this basic information in the first place. Perhaps in an effort to seed a rumor that can be easily dispelled, thus casting a shadow on all questions raised. Personally, I would say that a copy of the original 'Birth Certificate" would carry more wight than a lately printed 'certificate of live birth'. But hey, we'll take what we can get.

I truly don't believe that there will be any big surprises but by refusing to release such a basic document, Obama is feeding the rumor mill, and causing folks to make observations about the BHO double standard like this: "The New York Times ran a huge front page article about John McCain being born in the Panama Canal Zone and whether McCain is disqualified to be president. The New York Times ran a huge front page article and an editorial claiming that McCain would not release his medical records to the NY Times. The NY Times did a huge front page article with “unnamed sources” claiming McCain had an extramarital affair. As for Obama, the Times has never once examined his citizenship issues (fair is never fair with the Times) and never addressed his top advisor Jim Johnson getting sweetheart loans from Countrywide that were not available to working folks. This is what passes for fairness at the New York Times."

US Casualties are now the lowest on record since the war began. This is the fate that has been met by thousands of Al Qaeda operatives that flocked to Iraq from around the world. If this trend continues, the Iraq campaign will have been proven an unprecedented success. Both in terms of dealing a fatal blow to Al Qaeda and its thousands of operatives who went to Iraq and met their end, and in terms of creating a stable, working, democratic alternative to the Saddam Hussein dictatorship. Good news for America is horrible news for Democrats who have staked everything on an American defeat and a narrative of failure; no matter what the facts on the ground may be.

Well, in short, it's a disappointment. The premise of the film had potential but was a complete missed opportunity. There were a few funny scenes but mostly I was embarrassed. The political messages, moral equivalences and stereotyping were particularly childish and embarrassing. For anything to be funny it has to be rooted in at least some tiny element of truth. 90% of the film failed that test. Especially towards the end when the Stereotyped Jews joined forces with the stereotyped Arabs to do battle with the stereotyped right-wing Rednecks who were hired by the stereotyped evil white developer.... of course. Oh yeah, there's a plausible scenario. Only a dumb-as-a-sack-of-rocks Hollywood lefty could dream up such a scenario and believe it not only remotely logical but somehow funny. Good lord. This movie stinks to high heaven. I give Adam Sandler points for dealing with the subject matter, it did have good potential and there were a few funny scenes. In general... it was horrible... and I mean horrible!

In the previous post, I posted a YouTube of George Galloway hailing Bobby Kennedy (in his reference to Obama), and I also link to a Memri post showing Galloway spewing Israel-hatred on Hamas TV. It is too bad that Galloway is apparently unfamiliar with Robert Kennedy's strong sympathy and support for Israel. These are remarkable writings from a very dangerous place at the time. I was unaware of these writings and I thank LFG for enlightening me on this.
UPDATE: I have now read all of the Robert Kennedy's writing published here. I am truly amazed at the maturity and complexity of Robert Kennedy's writing, and his understanding of the Middle East situation during a truly dangerous and difficult time. This is the writing of a remarkable person...especially considering that he was only 22!!!! I thank Lenney Ben-David of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs for researching this priceless material. I am a real history buff and thought that I had come across virtually everything relating to this period. But I had never seen this. Wow!

UK Communist whack-job George Galloway sings Obama's praises but also announces that "someone, somewhere in the United States is already dreaming of putting some led in his head." What a crackpot. Anyway, he appeared today on Hamas TV: "I Pray for the Safety of Barack Obama. Arab Puppet Presidents and Corrupt Kings Will Discover That the Ground Has Moved under their Feet in November." Clearly Galloway seems to think that Obama will be more friendly to the Hamas terrorists line.
Surely Obama must be wondering why every crackpot is crawling out from under their rocks to endorse him.

Imagine that John McCain has a long-time close friend who was his top political backer/fundraiser, and was also a neighbor. Imagine that friend, who is a businessman with much business before government, was so friendly that he sold land to McCain at well-below market value. Then imagine that friend was indited on corruption charges and found guilty on multiple counts of "corrupt solicitation" involving other politicians.
Would McCain still be a legitimate candidate for the Presidency of the United States? Or would he be hounded and demonized to no-end by a hard-nosed press?

Now I know how Hitler came to power (and no I am not asserting that Obama is a tyrant...yet). A slick-talking politician can make the most outlandish claim in a speech to a nationwide audience, and the press will fawn over it uncritically. It matters not what he says, but how he said it...with an adoring crowd, mind-numbingly chanting "YES WE CAN" (the "Sieg Heil" of our times) in the background. A cult of personality has clearly griped a large segment of this country. Hopefully, our constitution will shield us from the potential danger inherent in this type of politics.

I'll believe it when I see it...although I won't be surprised if it is true (or false for that matter). I noticed that the Obama's have not come out and denied anything even though this has spread everywhere, including on the major cable channels. So far, no one has produced the actual tape.

The single most significant contribution to humanity that Obama can lay claim to is that he laid waist to the Clinton political machine. With his warts and all, we do thank Obama for that. As Ace of Spades points out... we can finally have the above song back. A song that the Clinton's stole from us and contaminated it with their politics. Or as Bono said: "Charlie Manson stole this song, and now we're stealing it back." Bye, bye Hillary. Ironically, this video includes the USC marching band. USC is probably only "Republican" leaning University still left in the US.
Of course, he had no problem with the Church for 20 years. Only when it became POLITICALLY untenable, did he take steps to distance himself... only yesterday. And it was only a few months ago that he said of his church: "I can no more distance myself from my church than I can distance myself from my white grandmother." For any other candidate, all of this alone would be an automatic disqualifier.
