'We in Denmark cannot figure out why you are even bothering to hold an election. On one side, you have a lawyer who is married to a lawyer, and a lawyer who is married to a lawyer. Reader Comment of the Day
Obama and Hillary are not Qualified to Lick McCain's Boots...It's as Simple as That.
It came to me while I was having dinner with Doris Day. No, not that Doris Day. The Doris Day who is married to Col. Bud Day, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, fighter pilot, Vietnam POW and roommate of John McCain at the Hanoi Hilton.
As we ate near the Days' home in Florida recently, I heard things about Sen.
McCain that were deeply moving and politically troubling. Moving because they told me things about him the American people need to know. And troubling because it is clear that Mr. McCain is one of the most private individuals to run for president in history.
When it comes to choosing a president, the American people want to know more about a candidate than policy positions. They want to know about character, the values ingrained in his heart. For Mr. McCain, that means they will want to know more about him personally than he has been willing to reveal.
Mr. Day relayed to me one of the stories Americans should hear. It involves what happened to him after escaping from a North Vietnamese prison during the war. When he was recaptured, a Vietnamese captor broke his arm and said, "I told you I would make you a cripple."
The break was designed to shatter Mr. Day's will. He had survived in prison on the hope that one day he would return to the United States and be able to fly again. To kill that hope, the Vietnamese left part of a bone sticking out of his arm, and put him in a misshapen cast. This was done so that the arm would heal at "a goofy angle," as Mr. Day explained. Had it done so, he never would have flown again.
But it didn't heal that way because of John McCain. Risking severe punishment, Messrs. McCain and Day collected pieces of bamboo in the prison courtyard to use as a splint. Mr. McCain put Mr. Day on the floor of their cell and, using his foot, jerked the broken bone into place. Then, using strips from the bandage on his own wounded leg and the bamboo, he put Mr.
Day's splint in place.
Years later, Air Force surgeons examined Mr. Day and complemented the treatment he'd gotten from his captors. Mr. Day corrected them. It was Dr.
McCain who deserved the credit. Mr. Day went on to fly again.
Another story I heard over dinner with the Days involved Mr. McCain serving as one of the three chaplains for his fellow prisoners. At one point, after being shuttled among different prisons, Mr. Day had found himself as the most senior officer at the Hanoi Hilton. So he tapped Mr. McCain to help administer religious services to the other prisoners.
Today, Mr. Day, a very active 83, still vividly recalls Mr. McCain's sermons. "He remembered the Episcopal liturgy," Mr. Day says, "and sounded like a bona fide preacher." One of Mr. McCain's first sermons took as its text Luke 20:25 and Matthew 22:21, "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's." Mr. McCain said he and his fellow prisoners shouldn't ask God to free them, but to help them become the best people they could be while serving as POWs. It was Caesar who put them in prison and Caesar who would get them out. Their task was to act with honor.
Another McCain story, somewhat better known, is about the Vietnamese practice of torturing him by tying his head between his ankles with his arms behind him, and then leaving him for hours. The torture so badly busted up his shoulders that to this day Mr. McCain can't raise his arms over his head.
One night, a Vietnamese guard loosened his bonds, returning at the end of his watch to tighten them again so no one would notice. Shortly after, on Christmas Day, the same guard stood beside Mr. McCain in the prison yard and drew a cross in the sand before erasing it. Mr. McCain later said that when he returned to Vietnam for the first time after the war, the only person he really wanted to meet was that guard.
Mr. Day recalls with pride Mr. McCain stubbornly refusing to accept special treatment or curry favor to be released early, even when gravely ill. Mr.
McCain knew the Vietnamese wanted the propaganda victory of the son and grandson of Navy admirals accepting special treatment. "He wasn't corruptible then," Mr. Day says, "and he's not corruptible today."
The stories told to me by the Days involve more than wartime valor.
For example, in 1991 Cindy McCain was visiting Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh when a dying infant was thrust into her hands. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life, so Mrs. McCain brought the child home to America with her. She was met at the airport by her husband, who asked what all this was about.
Mrs. McCain replied that the child desperately needed surgery and years of rehabilitation. "I hope she can stay with us," she told her husband. Mr.
McCain agreed. Today that child is their teenage daughter Bridget.
I was aware of this story. What I did not know, and what I learned from Doris, is that there was a second infant Mrs. McCain brought back. She ended up being adopted by a young McCain aide and his wife.
"We were called at midnight by Cindy," Wes Gullett remembers, and "five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the L.A. airport wearing the only clothing Cindy could find on the trip back, a 7-Up T-shirt she bought in the Bangkok airport." Today, Nicki is a high school sophomore. Mr. Gullett told me, "I never saw a hospital bill" for her care.
A few, but not many, of the stories told to me by the Days have been written about, such as in Robert Timberg's 1996 book "A Nightingale's Song." But Mr.
McCain rarely refers to them on the campaign trail. There is something admirable in his reticence, but he needs to overcome it.
Private people like Mr. McCain are rare in politics for a reason. Candidates who are uncomfortable sharing their interior lives limit their appeal. But if Mr. McCain is to win the election this fall, he has to open up.
Americans need to know about his vision for the nation's future, especially his policy positions and domestic reforms. They also need to learn about the moments in his life that shaped him. Mr. McCain cannot make this a biography-only campaign - but he can't afford to make it a biography-free campaign either. Unless he opens up more, many voters will never know the experiences of his life that show his character, integrity and essential decency.
These qualities mattered in America's first president and will matter as Americans decide on their 44th president.
Mr. Rove is the former senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush.
I would challenge both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to come even remotely close to such a resume. Simply put, they are not qualified to lick McCain's boots.

DNC Use Footage of Attacks on GI's for Political Ad
They complain about the use of images from 9/11 in politics but have no problem using footage of US troops being blown up for politics, footage possibly filmed by Al Qaeda. Welcome to today's Democrat party. How sick can they get?

Reporter to Obama: Are you Too Good Looking to be President?
Good lord!!! These are the types of "hardball" questions that Obama gets on the campaign trail. And the never-ending self-serving answer is oh-so slick.

Commander of the Exodus, Dead at 90
The events involving this ship inspired the book "Exodus" by Leon Uris and the movie by the same name starring Paul Newman, who played the Character of Yossi Harel...now dead at age 90.
The ship was packed with over 4,500 refugees, Holocaust survivors, mostly women and children who were desperately seeking to reach the shores of Palestine in 1947. The British Navy ceased the ship in open water killing three refugees and sending it back to Germany where they were put in camps.
The events triggered world-wide disgust and exposed the British policies for what they were... blatant interference on behalf of Arab interests to halt the creation of the Jewish State in their homeland. Eventually the British caved and high-tailed it out, as the State of Israel was proclaimed.
As much as I admire the British for their larger contributions to human events in centuries past, the list of really disgusting episodes of misjudgment is a long one... including this legendary incident.

McCain: "I will be Hamas' Worst Nightmare", As Obama is Endorsed by Hamas' Poltical Adviser
This is the first real hardball stuff coming from McCain. Let's hope there will be much more down the road:
“I think it is very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States … I think that the people should understand that I will be Hamas’ worst nightmare,”
These words were uttered by McCain after it was learned that Barack Obama has received the endorsement of Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef who was quoted saying: “Actually, we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will [win] the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle.”
“I never expect for the leader of Hamas … to say that he wants me as president of the United States,” McCain said. He referenced Obama, though not by name, in describing his policies as “saying you’d sit down face-to-face with the president of Iran who denies the Holocaust and says that he is going … to wipe Israel off the map.”
“I think it is very clear that it’s understandable why they would not want me to be president of the United States,” he continued, “so if Sen. Obama is favored by Hamas, I think people can make judgments accordingly.”
Indeed! Why is it that every murdering terrorist and dictator in the world are cheering for Obama? I realize that Obama can't control who is endorsing him, but seriously, even he must wonder why terrorist groups, Islamic radicals and dictators are attracted to him? Are they misunderstanding him? If so, why?
Joke of the Day: IAEA condemns Destruction of Syrian Nuke Facility
The head of the United Nations nuclear monitoring agency on Friday criticized the U.S. for not giving his organization intelligence information sooner on what Washington says was a nuclear reactor in Syria being built secretly by North Korea.
Mohammed "A-Bomb-for-Islam" ElBaradei, who heads the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), also criticized Israel for deciding unilaterally to bomb the site on September 6, 2007, thus destroying evidence that could have supported or refuted the claims the site was in fact a nuclear facility. ElBardaei's criticism reflected anger at being kept in the dark.
Oh yeah! Let's have Mohammed over at the IAEA take care of the issue... like he's taking care of the Iranian issue. In fact, lets just turst the entier matter of international security to Mohammed.

US Intelligence Had No Clue of the Syria Nuke Program and the North Korea Connection
We literally spend billions of dollars on multiple layers of "intelligence" gathering, with gigantic bureaucracies and thousands of employees. Our intelligence agencies issue an annual "authoritative" joint declaration each year called the "National Intelligence Estimate," or NIE. This year the NIE announced with "high confidence" that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program back in 2004...in contrast to it's previous declaration a year earlier when it declared "with high confidence" that Iran is aggressively pursuing nuclear weapons. The Blind are leading the blind...and Helen Keller is in charge.
As it turns out, right under our noses, for years! arch enemy North Korea was building a nuclear bomb-making facility in Syria and we had absolutely no clue. Zero. When presented with the incontrovertible evidence, we were dumb-founded and paralyzed, and left it to the Israelis to take action to neutralize the threat.
Ironically, this week we also experienced the annual, obligatory "the-Israelis- are-spying-on-us" story. What a joke. It seems our Intelligence community is really good at pulling the annual "Israelis-are-spying-on-us" routine, but seem completely incapable of gathering real intelligence against a real enemy, and our dealings with real enemies goes something like this:
or like this:

North Carolina GOP Run Obama-Wright Ad, McCain Condemns
This is not something McCain can control, or should be able to control. Private groups will undoubtedly run ads like this throughout the election. McCain himself will condemn and try to stay above the fray...but private groups will do what a free country allows them to do. And why not? Is there a single misstatement in the ad? It is accurate and true.
Maybe this giant billboard on Main Street?
U.S. Congressional Candidate Tony Zirkle Campaigns at NAZI Hitler Birthday Party
No Joke!
OK, here is living proof that you don't have to be a Democrat to have your head up your #@&!. This guy is as dumb as Jimmy Carter!...and Carter (who was busy hugging Hamas this week) is as dumb as a doorknob. A real embarrassment to any Republican, seriously, I am ashamed to find out that anyone like that is a registered Republican...and a candidate for public office.
So what does Tony Zirkle have to say for himself:
"I didn't know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it.... This is just a great opportunity for me to witness," he said, referring to his message and his "Christian" belief. "If the Black Panthers or the Jewish Zionists want me to speak about these issues, I’ll do it."
Oh my GOD! I swear this has got to be a parody or a joke...there's no way!
Maybe the big picture of Hitler and a bunch of strange guys sitting around the table wearing swastika arm bands is a clue?

The DARPA Vulture
Solar powered, it can hover over any territory on earth for five years, at an altitude of 90,000 feet. It can fly from one regional hot spot to another, lingering quietly in the sky gathering visual and electronic intelligence, transmitting communications. One day it will be armed with laser guided missiles and will be able to rain death on an ususpecting target that has been track for years....anywhere on Earth. No place to run, no place to hide.
Obama Will SaveYour Soul
"Barack Obama will fix our broken souls.... he will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zone. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed." Michelle Obama
To quote Caroline Glick:
The basic idea of liberty is that people have a natural right to live their lives as usual and to be as uninvolved and uninformed as they choose. And they certainly have a right to expect that their government will butt out of their souls. One can almost smell the "re-education" and "sensitivity" programs coming with this crowd.

Hillary: I will Nuke Iran if it Nukes Israel
This is the first public talk of a nuclear umbrella for Mideast allies, and the first public discussion of a policy of deterrence towards a nuclear Iran. If the policy is to stand back and allow Iran to go nuclear, than there will be a lot more talk about "deterrence" and "umbrellas." Of course, here at NE, we believe in preemption so that a life of deterrence, umbrellas, MAD, and a "balance of terror" vis-a-vis Iran will never be necessary.
Contrary to the US NIE report, US Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates now says that "Iran is hell bent on getting nuclear weapons." Of course Gates is correct, but then he goes on to essentially admit that the US intends to stand by and do nothing to prevent the arming of Iran with nuclear weapons. Let's hope it's all a head-fake.
Two Germans Meet
This extraordinary photo is of Pope Benedict XVI meeting with Rabbi Arthur Schneier a few days ago in New York. Both men are roughly the same age, both were born in Germany and both experienced World War II and all of the turbulence of that generation, and went on to live extraordinary lives of faith. Their paths cross in this fascinating moment in their old age, they speak in their native tongue and it is as if all of the difficult history fades into a simple recognition that we are all brothers in the end.

HBO's 'John Adams' - A Masterpiece
I have refrained from reviewing HBO's John Adam's until the final episode aired tonight. I cannot say enough about the series. It captured the life of one of the key founding fathers with the kind of eloquence and authenticity rarely scene on television. Tom Hanks, who produced the series deserves significant praise. The entire cast preformed stunningly! Emmy's all around:
Paul Giamatti as John Adams
Laura Linney as Abigail Adams
David Morse as George Washington
Stephen Dillane as Thomas Jefferson
Tom Wilkenson as Benjamin Franklin
Certainly, with this series under his belt, Paul Giamatti is elevated to one of the greatest actors of our time. A truly heroic performance that demanded a significant range. From a young, up-and-coming lawyer, to a 90+ year old man on his death bed, Giamatti delivered authenticity at every turn bringing to life a truly important, difficult and cantankerous character.
This is a must see series, especially for students. I intend to purchase the DVD set when it comes out.
The Mental Illness that is the Left
You cannot make this stuff up. A potent mixture of malignant narcissism and psychotic self hate.
137 years ago today:
For decades after the Civil War, the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party. Klansmen murdered hundreds of Republican activists and office- holders, including U.S. Representative James Hinds (R-Arkansas).
On this day in 1871, the Republican-controlled 42nd Congress passed and the Republican President, Ulysses Grant, signed into law the Ku Klux Klan Act. The law banned the KKK and other Democrat terrorist organizations. President Grant then deployed federal troops to crush a Klan uprising in South Carolina.
Eleven years later, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned most provisions of the Act. Though legalized, this original version of the Ku Klux Klan soon faded. Why? Because as Democrats regained control over southern state governments, they could oppress African-Americans openly, without need of sheets.
Thus, virtually every racist Jim Crow politician in the South, was in fact, a Democrat. Of course, most of this history is completely unknown to the average Democrat who's idea of history goes back all the way to... this morning when they got out of bed.

Obama: Senator Tom Coburn is like a Terrorist!
"That Guy to my right is like a terrorist, but that's OK he's still my firend just like that other guy Bill Ayers"
Good lord, that man can't stop stepping all over his own #&%@. When Obama is confronted with his association to a real terrorist (William Ayers) who placed real bombs and hurt real people...he compares it to his association with...are you ready for this... Senator Tom Coburn who opposes abortion. So Senator Coburn gets compared to a terrorist in front of 10 million TV viewers so Obama can wiggle his way out of a corner.
..."Wouldn’t Coburn be more comparable to Ayers if he, Coburn, had bombed abortion clinics in the past — and then said that he not only did not regret bombing the clinics but wished that he had done more? And then, after bombing abortion clinics and refusing to express regret, he held a political event in his home for Barack Obama, which Obama attended?"
..."Obama used his Senate colleague Coburn to suggest that the issue was not one of violence, and radicalism, and lawbreaking, but rather a simple disagreement: Sen. Coburn and I disagree on some things, and yet we’re still friendly. Bill Ayers and I disagree on some things, and yet we’re still friendly. So what’s the problem?"
If I were Tom Coburn, I would be on the phone with Obama seeking a public apology.
Great Footage from the Valdez Peninsula
In late December I visited this beach on the north shore of the Valdez Peninsula in Patagonia, Argentina. It was birthing season for the sea lions so it was an interesting visit, but Unfortunately, I was a few months early to witness the great Orca-sea lion hunt. This is what I missed. I highly recommend the Valdez Peninsula to any traveler who has a love for nature. Enjoy:

Europe Hates America?
Many on the left are desperately trying to convince us that the US is held in low esteem in Europe because of Bush. Yet in many ways, US relations with European powers has never been better. With the exception of Spain, the United States has almost never enjoyed the kind of close friendship and ideological compatibility that it now enjoys with all of the major European elected leadership. If Europe is so "Anti" American as some would have us believe, why do the Europeans insist on electing pro-American leaders and not the anti-US candidates championed by the left? Facts are a stubborn thing:
Angela Merkel is a moderate-conservative with a strong pro-US disposition. Her friendship has ushered in a new era of US-German relations and a refreshing change from the leftist anti-US Gerhard Schroder.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the Neo-conservative of France was elected on a strong pro-American platform and has improved US French relations to a point not seen in almost a century.
Gordon Brown, a moderate-liberal of Great Britain has continued the warm and special relations with the Bush administration established by his predecessor Tony Blair.
Silvio Berlusconi of Italy was reelected last week to lead Italy once again. This conservative maverick has a long pro-American record and a strong understanding of the threat of radical Islam to Western civilization.
All of Eastern Europe...Poland, Romania....the Czech Republic have elected strong pro-American leaders. The entire notion of a need to "repair America's image" in Europe is patently ridiculous. Simply put, we have never had it better.
The Battle of Kruger
I have been to Kruger in northeastern South Africa and got to see much wildlife, but this one takes the cake!
The good guys (represented by the Buffalo), are unrestrained by their extreme left- wing Democrat "peace movement" and join together in defiance of the UN to overwhelm the evil aggressors, using "disproportionate force" in the process. You see, even in nature we learn that a vote for the far left is a vote for the Lions and Crocodiles.

Obama on Carter Meeting with Terror Leader: "Not my place to discuss who he should or shouldn't meet with"
Obama is really showing his leadership qualities...by refusing to take a position.
Obama: I Will Ask my Attorney General to Investigate "Potential Crimes" of the Bush Administration
Oh yeah, that's exactly what this country needs; an Idi Amin Dada-like, leftist witch-hunt to cleanse ourselves of those who are "ideologically impure." Perhaps re-education camps are also in order. This man, and some of his more ideological supporters are beginning to seem down-right dangerous. Putting the pieces together...from the Reverend Wright to William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn...we could be drifting towards uncharted territory on the radical left.

Senior Hamas Cleric: 'Rome Will Be Conquered by Islam'. Jimmy Carter: I want to "mediate" between the West and Hamas.
As Rome fiddles, Islamic clerics preach conquest; Senor Hamas claric Yunis al-Astal's comments were aired on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV. He predicted that Rome would become:
"An advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe...Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesied by our prophet Muhammad."Meanwhile, America's senior spokesman for terrorists and thuggish dictators, former US President Jimmy Carter, has scheduled a meeting with the leader of the terrorist group Hamas in Damascus. The morally blind airhead from Plains is bucking to become a "mediator" between the arsonists and the fire brigade.

Where Have I been in the Last few Days?
Some of you may have wondered why I haven't been posting the past few days. I was "on the road", driving most of the length of I-70, the very first Interstate Highway project in the United States:
It's always good to see what most liberals consider "Red State, Fly-over" country. I have traveled all over the world, and I'm still amazed at how beautiful America is, and how kind and good the people who populate its heartland are.

Daphna Ziman Reveals Vicious Anti-Semitism at LA African American Event
Below are comments from Dapha Ziman, wife of Richard Ziman, former CEO of the major firm, Arden Realty. The Zimans are generous donors to many worthy causes. This letter and video speaks for itself:
Hi,
I have to tell you of an experience I had last night that was so anti Semitic and frightening:
Last night I was honored by Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, for my work with Children Uniting nations with African American children who are living out of home care. I have dedicated my life to saving these children from abuse, neglect and a life of crime. We created 'adoption day' and "Day of the child" determined to recruit caring adults to be mentors and life savers for our at risk children in the inner cities.
The mayor was present and City council member Bernard parks, assemblyman Mike Davis Senator Mark Ridely Thomas etc. I was introduced as a children advocate and a leader in the Jewish community. I began my speech by talking about how I woke up in the morning and listened to Hillary clinton's speech, in the spirit of Dr. King from Memphis, that moved me so deeply. I expressed to the crowd how grateful I was to listen to Sen. McCain apologize to the community for mistakes he has made in the past. I acknowledged Sen. Obama's speech from the campaign trail about Dr. King's mentor ship.
After I spoke and thanked the fraternity and their members, Rev. Eric Lee, pres. and CEO of Southern Christian Leadership Conference of greater Los Angeles, was introduced as the key note speaker.
He began his speech by thanking Jesus for Obama, who is going to be the leader of the world. He continued by referring to other leaders Like Dr. King, being that this was the moment of celebrating Dr. King's spirit on the anniversary of his assassination, and Malcolm X.
It was right after the mention of Malcolm X that he looked right at me and started talking about the African American children who are suffering because of the JEWS that have featured them as rapists and murderers. He spoke of a Jewish Rabbi, and then corrected himself to say "What other kind of Rabbis are there, but JEWS". He told how this Rabbi came to him to say that he would like to bring the AA community and the Jewish community together. " NO, NO, NO,!!!!" he shouted into the crowd, we are not going to come together. "The Jews have made money on us in the music business and we are the entertainers, and they are economically enslaving us"
He continued as to how now the salvation has come and the gates have open for African Americans to come together behind Barack Obama, because now is the time to show them.(meaning the Jews).
He continued to speak about ' White supremacy' vs the talents and visionaries in the core of African Americans. He demeaned being given freedom, by saying "To what?" to a country that kills women and children.
I could no longer be polite and sit in front of the crowd, so I walked out.
Members of the fraternity ran after me as did my staff, I was not able to contain my tears and I cried.
I cried for me and my family, who have tried so hard to help the African American community, because we adopted children from the same realities and wanted to give back to other children and people. We have been completely color blind, for us it was only helping those children in need. I cried for our beloved country and the division that Barack Obama has caused with his Rev. Wright opening the gates to 'hate' against the Jews and whites. I grew up so looking at America as the land of Freedom. I was honored to receive my citizenship accompanied by members of the Kennedy family. Now, I'm afraid for Israel because Barack sat there for 20 years listening and not standing up for what's right, why would he stand up for Israel?
I cried for the Jewish community who are so blind that they can't see that there's a movement here that will destroy us.I cried because for the first time in my life I was afraid of the future.
I cried for our world that is moving backwards and not forward. Everyday, I see children so lost, and so deserving of hope and love. I look into their eyes, knowing that it is their lives that are in our hands. I'm crying now, so I'm going to stop writing because it is so painful.I just had to share this experience with you,
thank you,
Daphna

Neocon Nation: Neoconservatism, c. 1776
"The expansive, idealistic, and at times militaristic American approach to foreign policy has produced some accomplishments of world historical importance—the defeat of Nazism, Japanese imperialism, and Soviet Communism—as well as some notable failures and disappointments. But it was not as if the successes were the product of a good America and the failures the product of a bad America. They were all the product of the same America. The achievements, as well as the failures, derived not from innocence or purity of motive, and not because Americans abided by an imagined ideal of conduct in the world, but from the very qualities that often make Americans queasy: their willingness to accumulate and use power, their ambition and sense of honor, their spiritedness in defense of both interests and principles, their dissatisfaction with the status quo and belief in the possibility of change. Are we really interested in abandoning this course?"

Charlton Heston, RIP
I had the opportunity to spend a day with Charlton Heston in 1992, as we flew round California in a small plane with Bruce Herschensohn attending multiple events during Herschensohn's campaign for US Senate. I found the man to be unpretentious, genuine, intelligent and nice. We discussed the Middle East and other issues during the day. A deeply religious and caring man. May he rest in peace.
Heston, a conservative in the truest sense, marched with Dr. Martin Luther King in 1963 in support of equal rights for African Americans. Above is a photo of Heston with Sidney Portie and Harry Belafonte during King's famous "I have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial.

Aiming for Minister; Hamas sniper hits Israeli Security Minister's aide
Israeli security Minister Avi Dichter is speaking to a group of Canadians of the Canada Israel Committee (CIC), explaining the security situation with the Gaza border in the background:
What the hell is this! They are shooting at us!
Quick, take cover behind the vehicles!
Man down, man down!
We need some air cover here quick, and an ambulance!
OK, situation under control now that we are back on the bus and out of range. I hope this little lesson gives you a clearer picture of the security situation in this sector:
Don't worry about me, I'll be fine:
Side note: the man shot was Mati Gill, Minister Dichter's aide. The images were taken by David Weinberg of the CIC. Mati Gill was shot in the leg and is in "moderate" condition at the hospital. The Canadians will have a colorful story to tell back home. Hamas proudly announced that they were targeting the Minister but missed. Will this green-light the elimination of Hamas terrorist leaders in Gaza?
