Charles Johnson over at Little Green Footballs seems a bit overly obsessed with the 'evolution vs. creation' debate for my taste, but when he posts a video clip of a stunningly ignorant State Senator talking about how "the Earth has been around for 6,000 years", you really have to wonder about the sanity of our public leaders. I mean people are entitled to their personal beliefs, but are not entitled to make up their own "facts", unchallenged in the public arena. Anybody willing to suspend all rational thought to that degree should not be anywhere near real power. I suggest that Arizona Republican State Senator Sylvia read the following book as a starter.
The irony, of course is that she’s talking about uranium mining, and it’s through the radioactive decay of uranium that we know the Earth is billions of years old. And she also praises technological achievements!
