Black Republicans slam the leftist Senator by pointing out some basic facts: Democrats were the party of slavery, Democrats were the party of Jim Crow, Democrats were the party of the KKK. While Republicans fought slavery, fought Jim Crow, fought for civil rights and against the KKK. Indeed, Martin Luther King was a Republican while every major segregationist was a Democrat. This is basic history 101. As always, democrats depend heavily on public ignorance for electoral success.
