If reporters had done their jobs and exposed the lies of John Edwards, it is highly likely the Barack Obama would not be the Democrat nominee for President right now. Experts assert that the bulk of Edwards' votes (about 2/3rds) would have gone to Hillary Clinton, more than enough votes to tip the balance in favor of Hillary Clinton at the early stages of the campaign.
