Huge "Non-existent" Yellowcake Uranium Stockpile Removed From Iraq

Of course, this development would have been shouted from the mountain-tops of the main stream media; But because it contradicts the "Saddam had no WMD program" party line, it's mostly ignored and made public on a busy travel weekend:

The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program — a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium — reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.

The removal of 550 metric tons of "yellowcake" — the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment — was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.
Maybe Saddam just thought "yellowcake" meant baklava.

  1. Nevermind that the IAEA, UN and the US were well aware of this NON WEAPONS GRADE YELLOWCAKE. It's not even potent enough for a dirty bomb. Do you want to know why this isn't a big story? It's because it's BS. But I'm not surprised that another newcon's eye's glaze over when there are facts to take into consideration.

  2. There is no such thing as weapons grade yellowcake and there is also no such thing as "non weapons grade yellowcake". All yellowcake needs to be enriched before it can be used for either nuclear energy or nuclear weapons. Why would Saddam buy tens of millions of dollars in yellowcake. For Baklava? And by the way, it did make all of the major news outlets, on the 4th of July weekend. The above post links to MSNBC's lead article.

  3. Blah Blah Bush lied and Al Queda died or something like that ;}
    Congress ducked their responsibility as Declarers of War once again (haven't said it since WW2) and told the POTUS to go ahead and do what needed doing we "authorize the use of force" as long as we can have some CYA during the bloodiest parts,lily livered cowards they are.

  4. Wow... You all can't even give a little bit of hinkling that perhaps we made the right decision. Amazing. Tey could find nerve gas or VX tommorow and you all would right it off as hairspray or baby powder. You all simply amaze me... Stop being NAIVE AND GET A BRAIN!

  5. It was a known stock by both the US and the IAEA and was not valuable for weapons enrichment. Oh, and they did find some VX, but it dated back to before the first gulf war and wasn't a smoking gun either. God bless you guys for getting in wrong time after time. And what is better is that you continue to support a clown who has done more to hurt your cause than anyone on the left. George Bush has done more to eliminate the credibility of the right and Neocons in his 7.5 years in office than anyone, yet you continue to support him. If he could stand for a third term, I'd vote for the guy just so he could weaken your side even more. You just don't get it. Good luck selling crazy to the American public, but they ain't buying anymore.
