Merkel Slams Obama for Seeking to Hold Large Election Rally in Germany

"It is unusual to hold election rallies abroad. No German candidate for high office would even think of using the National Mall (in Washington) or Red Square in Moscow for a rally because it would not be seen as appropriate."

Spokesman for
President of Germany
Angela Merkel
Barack Obama has been seeking permission to deliver a campaign speech at the Brandenburg Gate at the same location that Presidents Kennedy and Reagan delivered their historic speeches. The difference being that Obama has not even been formally nominated by his own party, let alone elected President, and is in the middle of a domestic political campaign. It's hard to overstate how inappropriate, presumptuous and tacky such a rally would be. This from a man who created his own Presidential Seal. The man hasn't even been nominated and he's already creating an international incident for his personal political ambitions.

When was the last time you heard of a foreign leader who is also a leading US European Allie slam a US presidential candidate? It's unprecedented and I'm amazed that this has yet to make the major media outlets.
