Under the you-simply-cannot-make-this-stuff-up catagory,:
On April 9, 2007 there was a United Nations believe-it-or-not moment extraordinaire. At the same time that Iran's President Ahmadinejad declared his country was now capable of industrial-scale uranium enrichment, the U.N. reelected Iran as a vice chairman of the U.N. Disarmament Commission. Yes Ripley, the very U.N. body charged with promoting nuclear nonproliferation installed in a senior position the state that the Security Council recently declared violated its nonproliferation resolutions. The line between U.N. diplomacy and farce has been crossed. The real tragedy is that the defensible border between our freedom-loving rights-respecting world and the cave of our enemies is fading along with it
Troops ridicule Mr Bean, the 'cry baby' captive of Iran: Seaman Batchelor's claim that he cried himself to sleep after his Iranian captors likened him to the comedy character Mr Bean made him a laughing stock. One serving soldier posted: "Batchelor didn't do the reputation of servicemen much good either! Being broken by being called Mr Bean FFS! - that must be on a par with Monty Python's Spanish Inquisition and the comfy cushions." Another servicemen says of Mr Batchelor's complaint that his iPod was stolen by the Iranians: "What I wish to know is why a young lad on a boarding party detail needed to take his iPod? Good lord!

As it turns out, there is a poor person who lives right next to the Edwards' 28,000 square-foot home, whom Elizabeth Edwards describes as a "rabid Republican" who keeps his property in a "rundown condition". Monty Johnson responded to the Edwards' complaints: "I have to budget. I have to live within my means. I don't have millions of dollars to fix the place...I thought he was supposed to be for the poor people, But does he ever socialize with any poor people? He doesn't speak to me."
