As predicted in the previous post, it only took Schizophrenic Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert a few hours to change his mind... again, reversing course and now accepting the same UN cease-fire agreement that only a few hours ago he rejected. Olmert announced the initiation of a massive ground campaign only a few hours ago. As troops began moving in, Olmert suddenly announces his acceptance of a cease fire and tanks have been ordered to stop again. The Neocon believes that Olmert's bizarre and embarrasing behavior could mean that the offensive will be reinitiated in the coming hours as he changes his mind, yet again.
Update: Now Olmert says that despite his acceptance of a cease-fire, he wants troops to keep fighting for now. Stay tuned, Olmert will likely change his mind in the coming moments, we will keep you updated. Vital Perspective have an exclusive leaked copy of the UN Resolution that will be going up for a vote in the next few hours.

Israel Takes Boy George to School
ReplyDeleteThank heaven Israel knows what it is doing in the Middle East. By entering into a ceasefire at this point they are acting in their own best interests, instead of the interest of Bush and his neocon-artists.
The Israeli government knows it lives in a tough neighborhood. Despite repeated attempts by Boy George to enlist them in his "War on Terror," and expand the war in the Middle East, the Israelis refused.
Recognizing that their initial strategy of waging an air war and limited strikes into southern Lebanon was a failure, they used the threat of full-scale invasion to force an end to hostilities.
Unlike what Bush is doing in Iraq they adapted deftly to the surpise of Hezbollah's strength, and have put off a final showdown for a later day. The next time, and there will be a next time, they will have had time to assess this operation and see what changes need to be made.
While Bush flounders by "staying the course" in Iraq, the more experienced Israelis knew when to stop. Withdrawal from southern Lebanon will not be considered "cutting and running" in Israel. It is a tactical manuever.
Certainly, implementation of the ceasefire can go haywire, but Israel has conducted its foreign policy in a much more sophisticated way than Bush has conducted ours.
Go haywire? I suggest that all this will do is give Hezbolall and its supporters in Syria and Iran more time to re-arm for another go around.
ReplyDeleteYou yourself said that there will be another time. One would hope that it will not be true, but very doubtful.
My question then is what do YOU think should be done in Iraq? Do we just pull up stakes? Perhaps we should have not tried to fight a PC war, and beat the snot out of them in the first place, destroying their systems totally, and implementing our own style of government?
General T.Sherman in the American Civil War realized that the best and surest way to win was to destroy your enemy's ability to wage war and to so morally defeat them thereby eliminating the desire to continue. Those lessons were learned well on Japan and Germany. To bad they weren't applied in Iraq. One can moan all they want about collateral damage, but total defeat and disheartening of your enemy is the most assured way to win.
Such are my thoughts
