Coulter: Tiller's Killer was Simply Excercising his "Choice"

Charles Johnson over at Little Green Footballs takes Ann Coulter to task for the below interview on Bill O’Reilly's show today. Of course, I agree that the killing of an extreme abortionist cannot be condoned. But unlike Johnson, I cannot fault Coulter for her language in this interview, nor do I think it a good idea to try to silence speech by painting her obvious sarcasm as somehow beyond the pale. The "law" in America is deeply disconnected from justice or morality in many areas. A person making a mistake on an export licence form can go to jail for years, while a guy like OJ who slits the throats of two innocent people played golf (and the system) for years. Rich people can defend themselves against the system while poor people and the weak are at the mercy of our system. Unfortunately, The "law" in America is not always a reflection of what is right or what is wrong. Sometimes its just the reflection of politics. Coulter simply adopted the language of the left to make her point. The killer of Dr. George Tiller was simply exercising his "choice" and who are we to "impose our moral values" on Tiller's killer. She was clearly using sarcasm and the lefts language to make a larger point which seemed to have went right over Johnson's head. Hey, it happens to all of us.

  1. Of course it went over Charles' head - he spends most of his day watching MSNBC and reading The Huffington Post. And we all know the numbing effect that can have on one's brain.

  2. I disagree, I think Charles is a good man with libertarian leanings who tries to see both sides. I just think he mounts his high horse sometimes, as many of us blogger do.

  3. I like Charles. I know that he is unhappy about what we can expect the nutballs to make of her comments. If I thought Coulter was serious, it would be shameful. Coulter has accepted the role of humorist, and should not be mistaken for a serious commentator.

  4. LGB and Mr. Johnson assume all vertical political positions. He has a nice area in LinkViewer but I would never get caught up with a Jim Jones like of faux conservative. Maybe he doesn’t know the definition of conservative. His followers or solders are much like Scientology in their overt big fish in small pond group think. I have never signed up at LGB because I have no clue where Mr. Johnson is politically and it’s quite obvious he doesn't know either. I give LGF a click every other day or so to get caught up on LinkViewer but HotAir and a myriad of other sites more aligned with my moderate conservative principles morphed my attention away some time mid last year. Just my opinion….

  5. Coulter has taken to expressing herself in a hyperbolic satiric approach to right v. left issues, and unfortunately the populace is too ill informed about the issues to even appreciate her attempt at humor. Perhaps she should address isssues on a 10th grade level, since that is the level of reading and comprehension in this country. Charles, on the other hand, has retreated from a conservative philosophy to a more libertarian, anti-right wing stance, especially involving any issues addressed by Glenn Beck, or anyone who wishes to take a firm stance about any conservative issues. His site is still one of the best on the web for links to various sources for keeping current, but his editorializing is a far cry from what it was 5 years ago.

  6. Charles has always been and always will be a left leaning blogger. It is because of this fact that so many of his readers are jumping ship and/or being banned. I used to like him, but his site has no more discourse. What is the point?

  7. If you believe someone in the womb is simply younger than someone just out of the womb then I ask why is she wrong?
Is a person yet born simply a bit younger then a newborn is the crux of the disagreement between pro-life and pro-abortion.Is hiring an assassin to kill another OK only if you contributed DNA and have sole custody for their first nine monthes of life.
