The city of Tel Aviv celebrates 100 years this week. This is what the town looked like on the day of its founding in 1909 and this is the small group of people who established the town. Basically sand dunes as far as the eye can see:
I have traveled the world and have been to many dynamic cities. I can say without question that Tel Aviv is one of the greatest city's of the world... especially for the young. Fantastic beaches, restaurants, culture and nightlife. It is rivaled only by places like Rio or Miami. Check out the sand dunes above and then the photos below. All done in a mere 100 years:
