Bottom line, if we conservatives are going to return to power, we are going to have to capture the kind of imagination and youthful energy exhibited here. Yes, it's part of the cult of personality that I find creepy, but the element of cool is undeniably important in a shallow culture that consumes far more People Magazines' than Commentary Magazines'. The conservative message has grown old and stale, as opposed to new and hip as when I first rebelled against liberalism in the 1980's. We need to retool, without abandoning the fundamental principles. We need to understand that there is a whole new generation out there who don't know socialism, socialism is "new" and cutting edge to them so they think "it's a new day":
