Obama: "Pro-Likud approach to Israel...can't be the measure of our friendship"

Of course, nobody demands of him that he sign up to the Likud position, but he apparently felt the need to volunteer his distaste for Likud anyway. Hmmmm.

1) Is that not meddling in internal Israeli politics?
2) Why take a shot at conservative Israelis?
3) Does this mean that he won't be friendly to an elected Likud government in Israel, but only to a left wing government that adopts his vision of the Middle East?

Shades of Jimmy Carter and Zbigniew Brzezinski.
