One of the reasons liberals are having a hard time grasping the Islamic threat is because they can't pin the issue on poverty or lack of education. To date, Islamic suicide bombers in the west are more likely to be educated and middle class. This does not fit a traditional liberal explanation of things, where evil is almost always viewed as the product of social short-comings, economic or educational. They are now forced to fall back on more abstract and less convincing explanations like our "foreign policy" to explain away the actions of psychopathic murderers.
