UN urged to take action on asteroid threat: Astronomers are monitoring an asteroid named Apophis, which has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking Earth on April 13, 2036. My note: If it ever comes down to it, who is really going to step up to the plate and get the job done? France? Iran? Venezuela? the UN? No, at the end of the day it will be the United States...you know, that country that whinnies like to complain about, who will carry the load and save the world...again.
