Cousin Marriage Conundrum: The ancient practice discourages democratic nation-building

This article ran a few years ago in the American Conservative. I usually don't bother reading that Buchanan-operated outfit, but I did find this particular article compelling. An article that argues against "nation building" in Iraq on a specific merit that deserves a hearing. The author, Steve Sailer, argues that centuries of inbreeding in Iraqi society render that nation unprepared for democracy. I'm not clear on how scientific it is, but it is a fascinating reading
