Washington Post Poll: Most Americans Share Negative Perception of Islam

In what is a shocking poll for the Washington Post, but an incredible observation of the obvious for the rest of us, Islam is perceived negatively by most Americans. The Neocon makes the following observation: It is not phobic or unreasonable; given what is happening around the world on a daily basis, that most Americans would view Islam
suspiciously and negatively. The Neocon is no big fan of "the media," but to blame the media and public "ignorance" is to miss the point entierly: it was not the media who crashed planes into the World Trade Center, the media did not blow up trains in Madrid, blow up subways in London, blow up a wedding party in
Amman, blow up a restaurant in Bali…etc…etc… The media did not burn down embassies and riot because of cartoons, or riot in Paris for a full month...or shoot up school children in Southern Russia. It was, and is, people acting in the name of Islam. It is indeed highly unfortunate that Muslims who have nothing to do with terrorism are suffering the PR consequences of the actions of the more extreme elements among them, and is another good reason for moderate Muslims to stand up and FIGHT these extreme elements in their own communities. Instead, unfortunately, we find many Muslim organizations in the US excusing, indirectly justifying, and sometimes even publicly identifying with the actions of those who give Islam the bad name they now complain about.
